Solo Consultant Pricing Planner
Everything in This Consulting Planner
Your Pricing Math at a Glance
Open the dashboard and see the full picture. Revenue goal, target hourly rate, billable hours available, and billable percent sit on the top row. Mix revenue, blended rate, day rate, and monthly retainer sit beneath. A banner flags whether your service mix delivers the goal inside your capacity.
- 8 KPI cards covering goal, rate, and capacity
- Banner flags mix vs goal and hours vs capacity
- Revenue by service line and required hourly by scenario charts
Work Out the Hours You Actually Have
Start with 52 weeks. Subtract vacation, holiday, and sick or buffer weeks to get working weeks. Multiply by hours per week to get total hours, then subtract an admin percent for sales, marketing, ops, and learning. What's left is billable hours per year - the number that drives every rate calculation.
- Weeks in year less vacation, holiday, sick
- Admin percent covers sales, marketing, ops, learning
- Billable hours and billable percent feed every other sheet
The Hourly You Need to Charge
Required hourly = revenue goal divided by billable hours from Capacity. The sheet also shows the equivalent day rate (hourly times 8) and the equivalent monthly retainer (goal divided by 12) so you can quote in whatever unit clients prefer.
- Required hourly = revenue goal / billable hours
- Day rate = hourly × 8
- Monthly retainer = goal / 12
Plan Revenue Across Service Lines
Four rows for service lines like 1:1 consulting, workshops, retainer clients, and group coaching. Enter hours per year and rate per hour for each. Revenue per line calculates as hours times rate, total revenue and total hours roll up at the bottom, and a blended hourly comes out of the math.
- Four editable service lines with hours and rate
- Revenue per line = hours × rate
- Blended hourly = total revenue / total hours
Lean, Base, and Stretch Side by Side
Three scenarios with different revenue goals and billable-percent assumptions. Billable hours and the required hourly rate calculate per scenario. See how a lower billable percent forces a higher rate, and how a stretch goal pushes the week longer.
- Lean, Base, Stretch in one table
- Each scenario: revenue goal × billable %
- Required hourly per scenario calculated for you
Two Charts on the Dashboard
A column chart shows revenue by service line so you can see where the money is concentrated. A second column chart shows required hourly across lean, base, and stretch scenarios so the tradeoff is visible at a glance.
- Revenue by service line column chart
- Required hourly by scenario column chart
- Charts update as you edit the underlying sheets
